Biography

Ellen began playing the piano when she was four years old. She first took lessons at the Stabroek music studio with Erik Claeys, later at the Academy for Music, Word and Image in Ekeren with Samra Mackic. There she graduated with highest distinction. Ellen then went to the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where she studied first with Irene Russo and continued with Heidi Hendrickx.

It became clear early on that Ellen's greatest passion lies in playing together and accompanying. From an early age she accompanied various vocal ensembles. Currently she is associated with Zingdering vzw, where she accompanies the vocal ensemble and is permanent pianist in the children's performances.

She also provides musical support for the performance 'Nestlings' by Dutch poet Mischa Andriessens.

In recent years, Ellen has specialized in ballet accompaniment. Since 2014, she has been a repetiteur at the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp. She also regularly accompanies ballet classes for Opera/Ballet Vlaanderen, Dansstudio and BIBS, among others.

Her repertoire and interests are not limited to classical music. With Triunfal Quintet she throws herself into the Tango Nuevo. With the group Bar Americana, Ellen sings and plays music from the Las Vegas of the 70s and has been heard in many Flemish CCs.
